Race registrations are non-refundable, with one exception for pregnancy and postpartum circumstances.
Race registrations are non-refundable. Once you register for the Bear Creek Backyard Ultra, your entry fee will not be refunded if you are unable to participate due to injury, illness, scheduling conflicts, travel issues, changes in plans, or other personal circumstances.
Putting on a trail race requires us to make financial commitments well in advance of race day, and this policy helps us keep our entry fee as affordable as possible for all runners.
The sole exception to this policy is our Pregnancy & Postpartum Policy below.
Bear Creek Backyard Ultra is committed to supporting women in trail and ultrarunning and follows the Trail Sisters Pregnancy & Postpartum standard.
If a registered participant is unable or chooses not to participate because of pregnancy, pregnancy loss, or postpartum recovery, she may choose one of the following options:
1. Refund: Receive a refund of the race entry fee paid to Bear Creek Backyard Ultra. Non-refundable third-party registration or processing fees are not included.
2. Future Race Entry: Receive a complimentary entry to a future Bear Creek Backyard Ultra held within two years of the original race date. The entry is non-transferable, has no cash value, and is subject to the future race taking place and registration being offered.
This policy applies whether the pregnancy was planned or unplanned and whether there was an expected or unexpected start or end to the pregnancy. We recognize that pregnancy, pregnancy loss, childbirth, and postpartum recovery are deeply personal experiences and that every runner's timeline for returning to running is different.
Requests may be made at any time prior to the start of the race. No medical documentation is required.
To request a pregnancy or postpartum refund or future race entry, please contact the Race Directors through our website. Find @bearcreekbackyardultra on Instagram, or reach out through the UltraSignup listing.
